The ‘David Bowie Is’ exhibition is to be relaunched as a VR and AR experience.
Having been hosted in 12 cities over the past six years, the ‘David Bowie is’ exhibition has ended. However, it is returning in a new digital format!
Exploring the creative process of Bowie as a musical innovator and cultural icon, ‘David Bowie is’ was a record-breaking exhibition that drew over 2 million visitors.
This Autumn, Sony Music Entertainment (Japan), David Bowie Archive, Planeta and V&A are bringing the exhibition to smartphones as an augmented reality app. It will follow on all major virtual reality platforms in the Spring.
The digital versions of ‘David Bowie Is’ will take users on an audio-visual journey through Bowie’s personal archives, allowing them to engage with one of the world’s most popular and influential artists as never before.
The David Bowie Archive will donate a portion of the profits to the V&A and Brooklyn Museum.
