The Pop Princess is set to play the 'legends' slot at Glastonbury 2019
There’s a revered spot at Glastonbury that’s reserved for the legends of the industry. Today it was somewhat controversially announced that in 2019 Kylie Minogue will be inaugurated into this pop hall of fame.
The Australian princess of pop will take the Sunday Legends spot at the 2019 Glastonbury festival, following in the footsteps of musical monoliths like Lionel Richie, Dolly Parton, Tom Jones, and Barry Gibb.
This momentous occasion is particularly moving as 14 years ago Kylie was forced to withdraw from her scheduled Pyramid Stage headline slot due to a battle with breast cancer, which she subsequently overcame. She will be given the opportunity to perform in front of the millions of people that she deserved to entertain all those years ago.
The Sunday Stage rounds off an intense week of music for Glastonbury festival goers, and often draws in the biggest crowds of the weekend.
Glastonbury 2019 seems to be heading down the road of nostalgia, with rumours pointing towards Sir Paul McCartney, Madonna, Liam and/or Noel Gallagher, and the Arctic Monkeys filling key slots on the bill.
Unfortunately, tickets sold out in just over half an hour. But if you were lucky enough to endure the painstaking Glastonbury ticket process, you won’t be getting this line up out of your head anytime soon.
