Track of the Day: Figures, a Reprise by Jessie Reyez

Written by frtyfve Team

Toronto-born Jessie Reyez followed her father’s creative roots from a young age. Adopting his talent for playing the guitar and singing Colombian boleros, she began writing lyrics and picked up the acoustic guitar.

Priding herself on the authenticity and rawness of her music, her tracks are layered with insecurities, dark fantasies, and lost love. Having co-written alongside the likes of Chance The Rapper, Diplo and Babyface, Reyez has become a promising name in the industry.

Inspired by some of her most emotional experiences, her debut EP ‘Kiddo’ was very well received. Returning with a rework of ‘Figures’, which featured on the seven-track release, she welcomes Daniel Caesar's soft vocals to the track.

The original release did very well, so it is not surprising that the reprise is closing in on one million streams after just 10 days. After picking up over 7.2 million new artist playlist followers this week, her total following is now 7.7m, illustrating her rapid rise as a solo artist in her own right (TalentAI).
